Being a foreign exchange student or foreigner in a foreign country with a different culture is one of the loneliest experiences one can go through. I'm glad he showed up for her. How re-assuring. ❤

What a wonderful surprise. We often forget how homesick our foreign exchange students can get being far away from family, friends and their culture. A friend of mine who was from Norway said how hungry he was to hear people speak Norwegian, so I learned a few phrases and would greet him every day in his native language. It didn't completely end his homesickness, but he knew he had a friend that was trying to make him feel at home and that was a comfort to him.
