I tend to cut a small portion off the back of the transfer tape, where there isn't vinyl. This allows me to easily position the vinyl in right space. Then I remove the rest of transfer tape. Do the same with 2nd colour. Keep in mind, vinyl sticks to vinyl, but the transfer tape isn't very sticky, so you can reposition on your project easily.
