Nowadays it's becoming more and more common for patients that have a terminal dentition or don't have any teeth, Uh, to talk about the terms All on four, 6 or all on 8.

To talk about the terms all on 4, all on 6 or all on eight, what's the difference between these terms? All on four refers to a restoration in which we place four implants in each arch. We hold a bridge from those four implants, usually from first molar to first, molar. Uh, if, uh, we, when we talk about all on six, we're talking that we are placing six implants on the upper arch, six implants on the lower arch.

In that case, we can split, uh, the restoration into three unit, one unit being hold by two. So we have one unit for the back, one unit from the front, one unit from the other side in the back. And all on eight refers to the placement of eight implants on the upper arch & 8 implants on the lower arch. What's the the difference?

The most amount of implants that we can place will give us a better prognosis on term for in the cases in which we do all on four. By any reason, one of those implants fail compromising the whole treatment. But if, for example, we can place five for six implants and one implant fails, then the restoration. It's going to be continued hold by the other implants.
