I don't know why, but I've watched a ton of shows on that dinosaur, and this is the first time I've heard it described as mummified, then fossilized. Why does Hank just offhand explain stuff so well?

Considering that most other planets we colonize will not have previously been inhabited (thus no fuels to exploit) I like to think of oil as a starter kit you receive when starting some kind of survival game.

The thing I didn't learn until quite recently is that plants evolved first before the fungae and stuff that make dead plants decompose. Coal seams are from when plants grew and died and built up in great layers which were then squashed. Coal hasn't been made for millions of years because when plants die they become food for other things. Coal is from before composting was possible.
