Rehydrating Freeze Dried Apples & Making Apple Pie

Making an apple pie using freeze dried apples from a few years ago.
This time we are rehydrating the apples using Alpine Spiced Apple Cider Drink Mix.

The big oops!
When we make an apple pie using fresh apple we always peel the apples. Of course we do. Who doesn't? You don't want that tough peel in with your tender apples! Well, we've been snacking on these freeze dried apples for years and the peels are not an issue when dry. I forgot that the peel was going to get strong again when rehydrated. Oops!

Freeze dried food will stay fresh for many years and be ready and waiting when you need it.

We have the medium freeze dryer with the original vacuum pump.

Interesting! I’ll know to peel next time I FD apples. A lot of my friends don’t care for the peels even crunchy 🤷‍♀️

The rehydrated and then you put silicone packets or anything else that absorbs moisture into your bags with the foods you are trying to preserve?
