Waves of heavy rain including a supercell thunderstorm that remained nearly stationary for hours dropped historic amounts of rain on South Florida. If verified the 25.91" of rain in Fort Lauderdale would set the state rainfall record for a 24 hour period.

In this video AMS Certified Meteolrogist Jonathan Kegges breaks down how this unprecedented flooding event happened.

While climate change did not create this storm, it likely played a role with increased moisture for the storm to work with.

The storm also spawned two weak tornadoes in addition to the catastrophic flooding.
