Europe is sweltering under an unusually early summer heatwave. Record-breaking temperatures have sparked forest fires in Spain and even here in Germany. And the hot, dry weather is putting pressure on regions already suffering from drought.

Thank you guys for taking such great care of the wonderful animals that are unable to take care for themselves. I know they appreciate it.

The world behaved unethically in dealing with the fossil fuel industry, and this is what it gets. Nor does it actually want to do anything about it. If it did, it would behave differently

I started my ride in northern Germany at 19C to drive just 370km further south to visit relatives.
When I got out of the car at my destination I got hit by a sledgehammer of 38C.
Due to the abnormal temperature gap we are expecting extreme thunderstorms up here.

I'm a renewable energy student, with extra courses in climate-science. It's a complex topic, so I'll just provide this food for thought: The scientific definition of a mass-extinction event is "75% of the earth species going extinct in a timespan of 2 million years." We have, between 1970 and 2018, lost 60% of them (WWF, 2018). Reminding you that in this period, the climate-crisis hasn't full unfolded yet, as global emissions keep rising.

The planet is fighting back. Sadly, I think man's parasitic abusive relationship with this planet has done too much harm. This is sad to see.

People just don't see or admit a problem till it hits them in the face.

the land is completely streamlined to get rid of water in the spring as possible , and even flood meadows river systems are all sold to farmers to produce profit because they had to take heavy loans to buy the land in the first place .... the european landscape used to store vast quantities of water to get trough even de worst summers and now at the smallest irregularity in rainfall we get confronted with too late too little

Not only Europe is experiencing a heatwave but also the usa is experiencing a heat wave in parts of states like Texas I m talking about 100 degrees weather it's common to have weather like that in the southern states we really need to stop polluting the air and stop climate change

The world should have been working together intensively to tackle climate change crisis and to ensure human survival for the next 100 years. Yet the Russia decided it’s good time to start a war in Europe, and the Chinese also preparing to start another war in Asia. Pathetic.

Would have been good to see a map of how much Italian territory is in drought.

This time last year, the Pacific Northwest hit 50C. Before last year, our record high was 39C. No one here own an air conditioner, as typical summer highs are 29C. On our hottest day, the overnight lows didn't go below 32C. It was oppressive. Whole cities burned to the ground and the rainforest had really big fires. Something like 10, 000 people died from the heat, and so many people huddled close together in public buildings with AC despite COVID raging full swing.

I am very surprised to hear that there is a heatwave in Europe. I live in Northeastern Europe and this has been a really cold early summer. If only the EU had some kind of quota system to divide that heat between EU member states, Estonia would gladly take +10 degrees from Italy or Spain.

It so bizarre because here on the coast in Laguna Beach/Aliso Viejo/Laguna Niguel areas here in Southern Orange County, California, we are having the most mildest spring/summer I ever recall! We’re having to wear jackets in the shade during the day and bundle up like it’s fall here at night! Never seen this happen before!
