Great job - I had fittings just like these in my old house!

Thank you for sharing. My old brass door hinges are on the hob now. It is worth noting that, in addition to looking better than the painted version, the freshly polished brass will look better and better as it ages and develops a patina. I've just finished reminding my three daughters that they should never ever ever paint hinges! They're so easy to remove and replace.

Great video! I have some 200 year old rim lock brass keepers that I am refinishing - they are soaking in hot water now! Any thought of spraying with lacquer to preserve the shine?

Thanks so much for sharing, this is exactly what I'm about to do throughout my house.

Baking soda in the water will make the paint peel right off in sheets and takes only a few minutes of simmering.
