Big lore explanation.
So uh basicly there was a team of scitensts that want to make a big busniess, they had three candidates, nanobots, AI, or cloning.
Nanobots got canceled after an incident, people didn't like the idea of cloning, so, the AI was chosen, it was named sam, and CEOs all across the world wanted sam in their busniess, and so the AI took over the world.
In 2164 if i'm not wrong, vector, managed to resist sam's brainwasher(the green headband) and escaped, the guards are clones of the same guy, and so, they tracked down vector to do experiments on him cuz his stamina is op, and so the other stuff.
Vector 2 got discontiued but there would be a remake of vector 1, so i'll prob continue there.
And for the other skins, idk about the origins, we can only learn about them from the vague descriptions.

For people who dont know:Vector is a game, where you run as a worker then you fking realize that all of you have been controlled and then you are escaping to the guard that was hiding something.

I suppose that the Big Brother intended to let him escape to test his abilities, and then experiment him in Vector 2, which explains why he wasn't executed or arrested in the end of Vector.

I think if they kept the words "I will be free" in the actual game it would make the cut scene a little better.
