Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I crack a joke or two. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

For the Unity developer one, this person probably didn't pay the previous developer and therefore did not get access to the source code. They're looking for someone to replicate the application without the source code, that's basically creating the application from scratch - their existing application is useless. Regardless, depending on the complexity, my team would charge them upwards of $5, 000 for completing this in a day (and I consider myself a more affordable choice).

Showed the whole app developer thing to my husband (he's a dev). He laughed his ass off and screamed he wouldn't even turn on his computer for 200 bucks. I think this answers your question pretty well lol

My disabled 4 yr old was walking out of the grocery store with his newly acquired balloon. As most children do he release his hold on it and was astonished it flew off. He said loudly "bawoon" He stayed calm and yelled "oh toodles" . Bless his heart he searched the sky for toodles to come rescue his balloon. Maybe they could try asking toodles for help with their balloon crisis

Charlotte reading the "choosing beggar/influencer" role as Eric Cartman, genuinely made me laugh hard. Because you know she's right, I will forever think of "influencers" as Eric Cartman's now.

The funny thing about the Unity program one...obviously what happened if he offered to pay someone to do it, they sent the result but not the source to keep it safe until they got paid.
Then the person obviously didn't pay. So they're looking for another person to duplicate it and offering to pay them afterwards, hoping they'll give the source code so they can then not pay them.

For the one about duplicating and updating the code - there's no way to "duplicate" code unless you have the code and can copy paste it. Depending on the complexity of the code, it can take from a couple of days to a year to "duplicate" someone else's work by seeing the end result. Think of it like someone asking you to duplicate a house by showing you the end result of someone else's house. If you get all the working parts of the original house and you just have to assemble it with updates, that would be like getting the source code and duplicating/updating it. If you are asked to "duplicate/update" a house by showing you another working house and not getting any working parts to use, and then expecting it the day after for a measly price, that's fucking AUDACITY.

Wanting artists to do things for ~exposure~ is the most insulting thing I've heard of in my life 🥴 I don't even accept art from my good friends for free, I always pay and tip them more than what they ask for because they deserve that! They're taking the time and using their own resources to make something for you, pay them like you'd pay anyone else for a service!

I work at the local ALDI in my town and we had an entitled woman a couple weeks ago—got upset her card was declined, expected us to stop serving other people while she sorted it then threw a 6 pint milk carton on the ground and it smashed everywhere. Absolute nightmare.

Ms. Dobre,

Since you asked for a software developer's take on the comment you reacted to around the 5 min. mark, I thought I'd tell you that what the person is asking for here is a developer to reverse-engineer an existing application. This task and the expectations the person has are fraught with issues, some of which I will mention here.

First, reverse engineering somebody else's application without having any code is, to put it mildly, extremely hard. It is not just a one-day job. Probably not anything less than a week, and that's assuming that the application is extremely simple (and it probably isn't). The task is, in many ways, similar to detective work. It is made easier the more clues that you have, but there's nowhere near enough clues given in the post to realistically give any kind of actual time estimate that isn't just a blind guess.

The person mentioned that it was created in Unity, which implies that the application is probably a game, since Unity is a well-known video game engine. If the application is something like a high-end commercial game, then reverse engineering it will almost certainly take longer than simply developing something else that might resemble it (similar mechanics and game play) built from the ground up. And even that task can take a team of software engineers, computer artists, and one or more game designers many months to finish, or sometimes even years.

Also at hand is the matter of copyright. Reverse engineering somebody else's game could easily make a new game created by such means a derivative work under copyright law, not to mention any of the art assets that the program used, which are definitely copyrighted, and cannot be legally be reused at all without the original copyright owner's consent.

Finally, even *IF* this were somehow easy enough to do all in one day, and if there were somehow no potential legal issues involved, a software developer with the skills to do it would definitely be able to command a far higher rate than just $200 per day. Heck, that's barely a living wage in many places.

Cheers,
Mark

The idea that a proper hotel in Japan, a country with outstanding customer service, is "not customer friendly" is hilarious to me. xD The word you're looking for is punctual. They are punctual to a fault. Get your ass there on time!

I remember when I was about 12 years old, coming back from visiting my family in Mexico, I had this adorable Mylar balloon shaped like a parrot in brilliant colors. The folks at the airport were so sweet; they just deflated the balloon and let me take it along in my bag without the air in it. My grandmother and my aunts were so sweet and sympathetic when they saw my sad little face in response to my parrot being deflated. But looking back, I really appreciate the staff being that resourceful instead of all “No balloons allowed.”

I’m a nanny in Oregon (m-f) 46 hrs a week making 20/hr… it make my blood boil to see ppl who feel ok asking someone to work for nothing. Exactly with kids.. you had them and want to pay someone else “nothing” to raise them for you?!!! Lol 😂

A friend of mine is an incredibly gifted musician. She does a lot of studio work as both a fiddle player and singer. And she charges appropriately. She got a call one day from someone who was recording several songs and was hoping she would donate her talent, skills and time to his project and she replied “ grass, ass or cash….I grow my own weed, you ugly soooo…cash”

A little context about The one about the dresser from ikea-
The Malm dresser’s from ikea were recalled for tipping over and causing injuries with small children. IKEA gave full refund for the dressers with no receipt so a lot of people would use this as a way to get quick and easy $$$

The wine one reminded me of when I had my catering business. Someone booked me for a wedding and I changed umpteen things on the menu for them, it’s about 30 years ago and I can’t remember what I did about the charging. However, they asked me if I could provide wine with the meal. I explained I’m not licensed but if they bought we would happily serve it. The fiancée said "You could give it to us free then you won’t be breaking the law." I did that nervous laugh thing that says "You are joking aren’t you? You’re not really expecting me to provide free wine for about 100 people are you?" The way they looked at me I think she meant it…

Woah now, that person saying shit about Japan's customer service is so entitled it's scary. I've been to Japan myself with some friends and been in customer service my entire life and I can say that we were actually trained to be more like the receptionists in Japan because they have the #1 spot in customer service IN THE WORLD. To this very entitled probably "American" person I say to you, stop being so entitled, if you want to get free breakfast for your teenagers get them up before they take food away and FREE WINE IS FREE WINE, it's not made for you to come whenever you want then DEMAND it! Thank you 😊💓

I was a freelancer for over thirty five years as a voiceover actor after leaving radio, and the whole freelance influencer aspect of your business is so interesting! I'm so glad you post these types of threads and commentaries, I'm learning a great deal. (I am also really REALLY glad to be retired. when I see how hard you work) Love your channel, Charlotte ! You are funny, ethical and kind. I hope you do more videos, too because you have a real gift for comedy and parody.
