Steven Pantilat, MD, gives an overview of advances in the practice of palliative care. Dr. Pantilat is Kates-Burnard and Hellman Distinguished Professor in Palliative Care at the University of California, San Francisco and Director of Palliative Care Services at UCSF Medical Center. He also directs the UCSF Palliative Care Leadership Center, which trains teams from hospitals across the country on how to establish Palliative Care Services, and he consults with hospitals and health systems nationally to help them establish, implement and grow palliative care programs. Dr. Pantilat directs the Palliative Care Quality Network, a national collaboration of over 85 Palliative Care teams focused on improving the quality of care for seriously ill people. The title of his November 17, 2017 Grand Rounds talk is "In Search of a Good Death: Living Well with Serious Illness."
