Well done breaking some ScotRail rules 🤣 if they’d clean the windows, you wouldn’t have to do it. If there’s ONE train to have clean windows on ScotRail, it’s THIS one. In fact why not buy some cool panoramic carriages for such a stunning route? Fantastic video though Scott! I’m actually heading up to Mallaig in the morning to try get to the Small Isles.

That was a wonderful vid. Dirty windows and all. Scotland is a magnificent looking country and you are showing us all how beautiful it is. Thanks so much!🇨🇦

Doing the Caledonian Sleeper in summer so that you can have breakfast going along the shores of Loch Lomond, following up with Fort William to Mallaig, must be one of the great train journeys of the world - maybe it's not as breathtakingly big as the Trans-Canada, but it's totally stunning in its variety. Always nice to consult the weather man and get a good day, of course.

I did that journey a couple of years ago on the Jacobite Express steam train. Then the coach took us to the base of the Glenfinnan viaduct to watch it return from Mallaig. Thanks for filming this video.

Hi Scott 😊 I have happy memories of doing that train journey in reverse, from Mallaig to Fort William, away back in January 1989, when I was a young man, on my first ever visit to Scotland. That was after having taken a ferry back to the Scottish mainland, from Armadale on the Isle of Skye 😊

Inverness to Thurso is pretty spectacular too, especially seeing the deer.

I haven't been on the Mallaig Extension since the late 1980s either, so this was a great reminder of the days when I'd stay overnight with friends in Hyndland so as to be able to catch the 6/6.30am train out of Queen Street to Mallaig.

Another great wee video 👍, could you imagine making the old black and white movies on the Scotrail network, where the baddie ties the young woman to the rails, only for him to see the rail replacement bus always go past .

Good to see an old Gatwick Express on the first leg of the sleeper.

Weather can screw stuff up. Back in '91 I took the ferry over to Skye (now a bridge), stayed a night in Portree, and hoped to go down to the south end of Skye to take a ferry to Mallaig. It was October, and the winds didn't let the ferry to cross to Mallaig. Had to go back to Kyle and take a bus down to Fort William. Then the little speeder train to Glasgow broke down. Lots of fun, and I missed everything.
