Pinecone Painting

To add a surprise detail to your next painting project, try using a pine cone dipped in paint as your paint brush. Find a sturdy, unblemished pine cone in your backyard (most regions have pine trees) or at a craft store, and make sure to wash it so that no debris or loose dirt is on the cone. After letting it dry completely, take a pair of rubber gloves and hold the pine cone on its side, rolling it into a shallow plate of paint. You can use acrylic or latex paint depending on your project. Let the access paint drip from the cone and then roll it onto the surface you are looking to texturize. (Tip: try this technique a few times on a scrap piece of paper first to get the hang of it!). Continue adding the paint in any pattern you see fit. And simply throw out your pine cone once your décor is completed!
