Should we be worried that an asteroid may hit Earth in 2046?

A theoretical physicist says we're "sitting ducks" and have no way to deflect or blow up an asteroid that is headed toward Earth. He says the only good news is that there is a very slim chance the asteroid will hit Earth.

Not true. NASA's dart mission worked with flying colours last year, we'll be fine. We've got another 23 years to further improve what the dart mission accomplished

i get that the nukes we have right now would blow an astroid to pieces but the the pieces would rain down on earth so, can we not make a 500 or 1000 megaton warhead and blow the astroid up?
