A man jumped into the ocean to swim with what he thought was a harmless Basking Shark, only to immediately discover the animal was a Great White Shark.

Fun fact. The basking shark is considered one of the least intelligent sharks: it doesn't need to be smart when it just open its giant mouth to feed on plankton.

The great white is probably the most intelligent shark species. Despite its relatively small brain it shows complex behaviour similar to that of mammals. It's a fast swimmer, though prey like seals are even faster and more agile. The shark needs to learn how to catch it and great whites regularly collaborate during the hunt.

Unlucky for us they are curious and they've got quite a temper. And they've got only have a mouth filled with many big sharp teeth for investigation.

great whites are actually preferable to find yourself in the water with than a fair amount of other sharks only cuz the other big name ones are more aggressive and have less specialized diets.

Shark must've spun out. It wouldn't be used to its food swimming TOWARDS it intentionally. Kinda like Door Dash delivery.
I've seen this many times and am always impressed with his mate's quick thinking by not finishing his sentence. Doesn't want to freak his buddy out more by saying it's a Great White. It's a big'un too.

It is a harmless shark. Great white attacks are incredibly rare. Still, might change the odds of attack if you piss it off. I think it was just curious about the boat though. Also I still would be shitting myself in this situation.
