The goal of this video is to shed some light on those who worked hard on something but never got what they wanted or deserved. I recently when through this with my IB exams and thought to share my emotions and thoughts on this romanticized notion of "hard work = success". If you are going through this as well, just know that you are not alone and that you'll find a way out.

Hope you liked this video! If you have anything to share, drop it in the comments below :) Also, please leave a LIKE and SUBSCRIBE! TY!

Dear Edison, you are correct, working hard does not lead to success. I learned this lesson the hard way, after pouring my entire being into my dreams, nothing happened. I eventually had to give up when I was facing death from my efforts. There are higher powers that control your destiny, it is not up to you. Take care.

Great video. I tried my hardest to get into med school and failed. But it took me on an amazing path and career and I love my life now. I feel lucky I learnt how to be resilient and adaptable from that early failure. Some people never learn this lesson and don’t gain this valuable wisdom. Your storytelling is wonderful and I hope you find what you’re looking for in this world. Wishing you all the best.

I can relate to you as a fellow Arabian(aisan). When I look at famous successful people, I find that they were not merely hard workers. If the world truly appreciated hard work above all else, then construction workers would be among the highest paid - but they are in fact often among the lowest paid, despite their difficult labor.

Simply working hard is not what leads to success. What really matters is working smart, with direction, focus, effectiveness and efficiency. Success comes from having realistic expectations and flexible, adaptable plans that prioritize maximizing outcomes from one's efforts.

A perfect example is what happened to a factory machine once. The machine was designed to run for 4 days a week. However, when a new inept engineer took over the project, he decided to have the machine work for longer hours each day. Eventually, the machine broke down because it was pushed beyond its intended operating capacity.

The lesson here is that success depends not on endless toiling, but on carefully directed effort applied strategically over time. Outcomes result from working in harmony with realistic limitations and changing conditions, not defiance of them. Hard work alone means little without focus, strategy, innovation and efficiency. That is the type of "smart work" that leads to meaningful rewards and enduring achievement.

I am actually quite shocked at the timing of this video as it very much applies to me. I went through the same thing, working 8 to 9 hours a day with little to no breaks in year 12. I was being praised by teachers for being 'so hardworking' & literally even had a friend come up to me who said I make them feel motivated to work harder. I ended the year with UEC in my A levels. I relate to everything you said in this video, especially the part about feeling guilty when taking breaks. I think the best thing we can do now is to simply look back at the mistakes we made in yr12 & learn from them to do better. Thank you for making this video & I wish you the very best of luck with the next academic year & achieving your long term goals!

this was like a slap on my face. I went through the exact same thing.. studied for almost 15 hours a day for over 6 months, yet I couldn't achieve the things I really wanted in the end but the journey sure taught me lot of things. Out of which, physical health is the most important one.
I hope to continue believing in myself and my work. Thanks man! this will drive me even further to achieve what I want.

You're right hardwork doesn't always pay off, but the world is tough.Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't have tried at all if there was no point but i've had life lessons to teach me how to be resilient and to try to wake up feeling energized enough to do my daily schedule without breaking down and being insecure the whole day, it ends up with me doing nothing and being antisocial that day and im still trying to stop although showing a bit of resilience can help you push harder and move on.

this exactly how i felt when learning calc 1 in college. i studied so hard for my final and when the day came i failed it. no one understood my frustration they would say that its just a test but I only know how much time and effort i put into studying. after that failure i tried again and felt so motivated to study effectively and ended up passing. though i still felt like a failure because i never failed a single class in my life and seen others passing every class i question whether or not i even like what im studying

I liked your video! I hope you’re getting enough sleep now, 7 hours isn’t nearly enough. Also, even if nothing came of it, hard work is it’s own virtue. Even if working hard doesn’t make you good at anything, it makes you a hard worker. And that’s really impressive, we’re all proud of how hard you’ve been working.

This is exactly how I feel with my photography and videography. I’ve been trying for so long to just get people to notice my work but I don’t even get comments or feedback. It’s so hard to keep trying or to learn what I need to work on without some form of validation

This is a constant story with me. No matter how hard I try it's always not enough. It feels so unfair, especially, when I see other people not moving a finger and still getting it all. I know that one day I will see how insignificant it actually is, but now it hurts.
I'm sorry that you had to go through this and I only believe that one day it will pay off but in some unexpected way and that one day the pain of it will go away.

I feel like you have the same story as me in this year, but now I am trying to correct my mistakes by balancing my studies, developing myself, and doing what I love to do❤

this is the fist video that ive seen that really encompassed everything that ive been feeling. i took a gap year to get into a better college. i worked as hard as i could, but the results werent good. but, the people that i knew who took off a gap year with me, got amazing results and have already started with their universities. i have been feeling so bitter and jealous and been wondering if the problem is me itself. on the internet too, everybody just miraculously have great results and is going to top colleges. its been eating me away. rn, im waiting for local college to start.
hope u still end up getting whatever u want in life. thankyou for this video

I've just started my Year 11 class and have started being in IB class; but if this is what I expect from IB, I can't believe how much suffering and stress it takes to get to that level and only having a chance of succeeding or trashed down in deep sadness. I'll try to remember this video I watched whenever I am feeling like this, and knowing the fact that I'm not the only one who is going through this; that everyone at my school, everyone at other schools around the US and worldwide are facing the same problems I am.
