I’m a Carlton supporter definitely think we got away with one, but in real time its almost impossible to be able to tell if it was touched. We are sitting behind a tv with different camera angles judging something that field umpires had milliseconds to judge

Sad to see a victory like this surrounded in so much controversy. I've watched the replay 4 times at full screen and 0.25 playback speed. It looks like he touched the ball _before_ it hit the Carlton players boot making this a legitimate kick and mark. Even in slow mo and full screen watching it a number of times it is very hard to tell though. How much harder for an umpire to pick this in real time? Still very undisciplined by Freo to carry on the way they did - even if the free kick awarded in the centre Carlton would have roosted the ball into their forward half & held up the game there - no chance for Freo to win this.

Hard to prove if the ball was touched on that kick.. Fremantle should be more concerned how they chocked at the end. Can’t blame a call that is near impossible to make.

What you don’t see in this replay is the Fremantle players rush to Jordan Clark to shut him up. They don’t turn on the umpire like it was a bad call on the dissent they turn to Clark like they know he was wrong.

Gotta feel for Freo, they worked so hard to keep Carlton at bay for the whole game and then to lose like that in the last few minutes… ouch

I'm generally fine with the umpire dissent rule but it shouldn't be paid in the last minutes of the game. The entire last quarter was wound tight, players were under so much pressure, even Huddo mentioned that the other commentators were barely speaking because it was so tense to watch. An important decision in the last minute went against Fremantle and they very understandably snapped. The game still had ~40 seconds of play for them to pull themselves together and try for an all out offensive which would've made for an absolutely riveting finale, and everyone would've walked away from the game going "wow, what a fantastic match". Instead the umpires giftwrap the game for Carlton, neutral fans walk away with a sour taste in our mouths; even if I were a Blues fan I wouldn't feel good winning that way.

I really did not like watching this game, the difference in playing styles between Carlton and Freo led to an uninteresting game until the last few minutes where we barely pulled ahead.
