Welcome to lecture 20 of Math 205 - Elements of Calculus.

In today's lecture we start by finishing up some examples about optimization, getting used to the process. We then move on to a new topic--antiderivatives and the integral.

We justify the need for an integral--the tool of finding the net area "under" a curve--and explain how we can approximate one. To approximate, we talk about the right hand rule, left hand rule and midpoint rule and will cover examples on these and more in the next lecture.
