Trek brought this bike in they used it as their entry-level mountain bike to get people into the sport But it's important to keep in mind a bike like this is often not just used for true mountain biking but instead a one bike to do it all set up You know think of people who drive pickup trucks or Jeep Wranglers on the road when really they could get around with a Prius or a small sedan but instead they want a vehicle with more capability for different days that they might be out using their car their truck whatever it might be And that is exactly what this Marlin is all about So that means the Trek Marlin needs to be able to combine some mountain biking capability with the ability to be a good do it all hybrid almost And that is where the Marlin has shined for in the past

I'm still riding a Marlin 6 that's five years old and I love it. Not doing big jumps but lots of trails and small jumps.

I got a dual sport. It's more roadie than Marlin since it has zero suspension but keeps the fat tires. Maybe I should've gone Marlin because singletracking on a Dual Sport is quite bumpy.
