Manhattan apparently has the worst air conditions in the world rn, which is pretty insane. Also as a Canadian, the fires are from Quebec. They like to think of themselves as distinct from the rest of Canada, and even wanted to try to seperate to be their own country at one point (but still expected Canada to give them resources)

The amount of smog in New York isn’t only fire smoke, there’s theories of nitrate burning but it’s probably just general runoff from the factories interacting with the smoke and resulted in a yellowish colour. I’m near Toronto and the air here is more like a large campground in the morning when everyone starts their campfires
