The 2008 Global Financial Crisis was the first of its kind. Most economists believe that in terms of severity, we haven't seen a recession like this since 1929.

The main factors that led to the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 were:
1. Predatory lending that targeted low-income home buyers,
2. Uncontrolled risk-taking by global financial institutions all over the world and,
3. The collapse of the US housing market.

This month's video is based on the Big Short, a 2015 film that is centred around the people who were able to predict the collapse of the US housing market and the financial system.

The characters in this movie were able to not only see that the US market was overleveraged, but they were also able to take action and bet against the trend and public belief.

In today's video, FilterCoffeeFinance brings to you the factors that led to the Global Financial Crisis. We will also dig into how each of the 'Big Shorts' took their positions against Wall Street Investment Banks.
