I really appreciate that you made a video on Cimabue, I'm looking for more info on him. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but...why's his art so bad? I'm not trying to insult him, but when I look at it I just think "these faces do not look right at all, nor the proportions, it looks childish and cartoony, and not in an intentional stylistic choice way. Cimabue is a famous name in this centuries long period where all painting just looks bad, it doesn't really start looking even kinda okay until Duccio and Giotto, and I just have to ask, what's up with that? Like if I drew something with the proportions and faces of a Cimabue, I would tear it up and try again, I'd be embarrassed, and I fully admit I am bad at art and cannot draw faces. Do you have any insight to help me learn? I've been trying to learn more about pre-renaissance art but I'm stuck on why it looks so bad.
