To save BIG, don't buy anything!

Just fantastic advice here. It's refreshing to hear someone in the tech space actually talk about the heat from a laptop as something important. Usability needs to matter as much as horsepower.

As Josh said, there are many factors we cannot test in store or online. That's why we are here to watch Josh's reviews!

I'm a network engineer. This dude knows his stuff. If alot people listen to him. Majority of stores will go out business or change their business practices. No joke! Base on this video alone😅

Thanks for the tips Josh. You mentioned prior year or second hand laptops, but didn't mention reconditioned devices specifically. Those will also save a lot of money but it's important to buy from a reputable source.

Hello Josh, I have 2 suggestions that I think could make your reviews even more complete. 1) test audio without dolby atmos software. Testing the audio with dolby atmos turned on shows you how speakers work with equalizer. Testing them without it shows how the speaker really performs not its combo with dolby atmos. For example if you install linux you don't have dolby atmos and you are stuck with what speaker has on it's own. Which is actually not bad as equalizers just pretend it's better most of the time by pumping some frequencies to sound more fun/clear/whatever profile you check. For example if you use high quality headphones when you use dolby atmos you will hear disortions. Laptop speakers are usually not high enough quality to acutally sound workse with dolby atmos but some good audio headphones will expose the pumped up frequencies. 2) I mentioned linux, checking if laptop runs linux out of the box (sound, keyboard etc) is crucial for some part of your viewers. I'm aware it's minority but most linux users to see if linux works on new machine has to either buy it or wait months until some user decides to post his linux experience.

I’m based in the UK

One of the issues I’ve noticed is that this, and other channels, review laptops with specs (& prices) that are available in the US, but when you look at the UK sites, the specs (& prices) are significantly different.

Can someone please provide an opinion on this scenario.
I'm looking to buy a laptop with its main use case being engineering, creative work, and a tiny bit of gaming.

My two options are the same as in the 14" laptop video (by chance somehow lol):

1. Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 14" (Also known as Lenovo Slim Pro 9i I think)
- 13905H
- 4060 Mobile
- 32GB 6400MHz DDR5X RAM
- 3072x1920 120Hz 400 Nits IPS display
- 1TB M.2

2. Macbook Pro 14" (M1 Generation)
- M1 Pro Chip (Not a clue about specs for these)
- 16GB RAM
- 3024x1964 Presumably Mini-Led display
- 1TB M.2

Anything I should be concerned about and/or recommendations? A few things would be thermals for the Yoga, eventual GPU performance for the Macbook (I've heard it's around a 1660ti => 3060 ish). Both same price here. If anyone has other recommendations or anything to keep it mind it'll be much appreciated (and if anyone has information on when game porting will be a lot more advanced lol)

1:12 Well at my local Micro Center, I heard an MSI laptop _at idle_ with its fans clearly audible. Guess which laptop was immediately crossed off my list? 😂

Your reviews helped me figure out I'm looking for the ASUS zenbook 14x. I've been hunting for that super sale that you got. It's currently $799 and I'm hoping for $699 for Black Friday!

Hey Josh, love your videos! Any plans on covering the european market as well in the future? Not only the deals, but also the product model numbers are not the same here

Qestion: Could some one suggest a good laptop for casual (watching movies - Need a good quality screen, decent speaker) and for learning purpose (Cyber Security - running multiple virtual machines, Pen testing, Netwrok security, little programing and all those stuff ). I am looking for a portable laptop as I dont play games. I have short listed XPS15, Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 11, Thinkpad t14 or t14s. Thank you!

Was planning to upgrade my 2014 MacBook Pro. The M3 MacBook was released in November 2023. Waited for the Boxing Day sales in Australia. Initially I was looking at the M2 MacBook models, but I realised JB HiFi (Apple authorised reseller) were applying a similar BD discount to the newer M3 models as well. I decided to go with a 14' M3 MacBook with M3 Pro Chip and 18gb RAM and the 1TB hard drive as it had a $420 discount. Cashed in some Qantas FF points for JB vouchers for another $600 off. Drive away price was $3, 179 AUD.... the new MacBook is fantastic! (As Josh said pay full retail on Apple website... $4, 199 AUD)

Hi. What are your thoughts about "ASUS - Zenbook 14" 120Hz OLED Touch Laptop - EVO Intel 13 Gen Core i9 with 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForece RTX 3050 - 1TB"? Is it worth it?

7:26 My HP laptop I purchased 2 months ago comes with 3-month free access of McAfee Antivirus, but I uninstall it anyway because not only it gives annoying pop ups, it also use considerable amount of CPU even when just idling, making the battery life a bit worse

Another good point to make with regards to the second hand or refurbished laptops, is you can get warranty protection extended or covered at the secondary price. Increased protection at lower price!!
