Henry, I had low self-esteem because of an abusive father. Your role as the Fonz, actually was therapy to me because you were a recipe of how to have confidence, build your self-esteem I suddenly got my hair styled got my body in shape, you were like my motivational instructor. I was a clone of the Fonz Even my clothes were now cool for the 70s. People treated me different. I’m telling you the truth thank you but please stop telling kids about the motorcycle breaking your image and I’ve seen pages where children and young adults said my childhood was ruined. He couldn’t learn to ride a Harley or a smaller bike even??? Not cool. I would’ve shut this show down and had the best instructors teach you for however long it took. You were a great dancer and would’ve been great in Grease!! You were a great water skier? How come you’re dyslexic didn’t bother that? Anyway, thank you for that role it was amazing and you’re amazing. Just some things keep private like the bike story please love you.

The Fonz was the epitome of cool when I was a youngin, I don't think any other actor could have pulled off the character as well as Henry

Actually, the Fonz's bike *wasn't* the same bike as the one from _The Great Escape_, although they were both Triumphs and highly similar -- and they both belonged to Bud Ekins. Ekins was a motorcycle racer for Matchless UK and later Triumph, which is how he got connected with the bikes. He was also a friend of fellow motorcycle racer Steve McQueen, who had a side gig as an actor. And it was McQueen who got Ekins the gig to be the other person riding motorcycles on the set. Almost all of the shots of McQueen riding the motorcycle were really McQueen, since he was an excellent rider. The one exception was the famous jump. There were just too many scenes still needing shooting, and the studio wasn't going to risk the star on such a dicey stunt. So the guy who got airborne on the bike was Ekins. The bike in question was his personal Triumph Trophy 650.

Fonzie's bike(s) were either the 1947 Harley Sportster that he crashed under a trailer or -- when Ekins was called in as his double for any stunts -- one of three Triumph Trophy 500's that Ekins loaned to Paramount.

The bikes in _Happy Days_ and _The Great Escape_ were closely related and all owned by the same person -- Bud Ekins. But the bike from _The Great Escape_ never was on the _Happy Days_ set. Sorry, Henry... Close but no cigar...
