Was a great player. A shame that the Monstars stole his powers in Space Jam

LJ, Penny and Grant hill, would be all time greats if not for injury. Most will never know how amazing they were.

One of the forgotten stars of the 90s. As others have said, he was on track to great things before injuries, but unlike Grant Hill for example, LJ doesn't come up much anymore. Charlotte had its own version of Orlando's brief Shaq/Penny golden era when Johnson and Mourning were at full strength.

This guy would have been one of the greatest ever if he didn't get hurt. Even with the injury he was good.

Charlotte was good through most of the 90s. And every time I think of Larry Johnson I think of Family Matters. Team Urkel-Grandmama!

A great player, similar to Barkley in size and skill. That Hornets team, with Alonzo and Mugsy Bogues and Del Curry was really good.

Seeing that four-point play does make me wish a little that the Knicks had won that 1999 title even if it would have cost the Spurs their first, just because of the dramatic journey it took for New York to drag themselves into the playoffs and then through each round that year particularly with Ewing having injury problems. Sprewell was a beast that post season and I think had the Knicks won that title several of their players from that team would have had their jerseys retired: Other than Ewing, I'm thinking Sprewell, Johnson, and Houston in particular would have had their jerseys raised to the rafters due to the major contributions those guys made particularly on the offensive end to get key wins when they needed them.

I see a lot of similarities in Zion and Larry's game imo let's hope Zion can avoid those injuries that plagued Lj's career..

My all-time favorite player. Met him at a preseason game and got his autograph. He didn’t let me down…

On his way to being a HOF until his back gave out. Still had some productive years in NY tho. One of my favorite players 💯💯

LJ was known for his highlight dunks and athleticism, but he had a very well rounded game. Creative post moves to make up for his lack of height, very good mid range shooter who then added a three point shot to his game, and excellent defensive IQ. all of that helped him become a great complementary piece and role player once the back injury decreased his athleticism.

Grandmama is great. A legend. If his back ain't give out, he would be a hall of famer.

If his back didn't give out he probably would have been in the hall-of-fame.  I liked his enthusiastic, fun attitude at the beginning of his career when he was with the Hornets.  He was a powerful player who had really good leaping ability, and his enthusiasm was contagious on the team. To bad him and Zo didn't get along better. Their egos got in the way of the bigger vision of being a great team. They need some mature, veteran leader to settle them down a little bit to keep in mind the big picture.

So much fun.  It's like watching NBA JAM.

The Rain Man & Grandmama were two of the most entertaining and underrated NBA players in their prime, I miss big dudes like that in today’s game.
