*So even AI doesn't want to do the hard labor jobs.*

Not all trades are created equal.

I am transitioning from blue color work to white color work.

It all sounds good to get into the trades, but people forget that the trades can be low paying for entry level positions, and those in the entry level positions are usually kept there by the employer.

If an employer can hire a person that already paid out of their own pocket to get certified as an HVAC technician, that employer will seek to hire that person. Since the employer does not have to pay to get that new hire certified.

Once employers hire people already certified, they will seek to pay the lowest amount for the most productivity. Nothing wrong with that, but be aware that if an employer can pay you $22 per hour, that employer will do all they can to remain paying $22 per hour throughout the years.

If you want to work in the trades, you might want to consider working for small companies or work for some of the medium sized companies—the likelihood that these companies will take advantage of you is low.

No career/job/profession is safe--the only safe thing is to be G*d fearing, having self respect and have strong work ethics and you will be immune to this crap

Truth is ALOT as in (most) of the people who complain that jobs like Walmart and McDonald’s don’t pay them enough are far to lazy or have way to low of a work ethic to be successful in the trades. The trades pay well with experience if you put the effort in to be good at what you do, they DO NOT just pay well for showing up and looking at your phone all day or slacking off.

I come from a blue collar family and I love the trades. A little advice though... If you aspire to own your own company someday, take some time to learn basic accounting and familiarize yourself with the software, etc. Working in the court system, I see waaaay too many nice, sweet little ladies who were bookkeepers for a small business and robbed their employers blind before anyone caught on. They start off pinching a little bit here & there, maybe with the intention of putting the money back. Then a little becomes a lot. Next thing you know, it's several years later and they've burned through tens or even hundreds of thousands of your hard-earned dollars. Don't give one person free rein over your books without checking behind them frequently.

I will take on a trade job when Ken decides to do so.

Ken ignores those who got sick or died doing dirty hard labor work. He also ignores those who became homeless doing trades well. Hypocrisy at Ken’s finest.

Journeyman Electrician here. I do agree that AI will not be a threat to my job physically but the more people that realize this, the more people who face job displacement…. Guess where they will be going?

My industry is already a very saturated one. I can’t walk down town without seeing a competitive electrical company. Now toss immigration into the mix as well. The thing about the trades is the education is cheap (free) in Canada we actually get paid to go to school for a trade.

I’m jumping ship. Starting a degree related to mental health before the mass job displacement happens in the next 1-5 years.

There’s going to be waves of people joining the trades. Electrical is sooo saturated already. It all comes down to supply and demand. There’s enough supply already. Wages are gonna drop hard. That’s my prediction.

I’m a registered nurse in a hospital. I don’t see AI taking over my job. However I do see virtual nursing taking over with a nurse on an iPad talking to a patient.

What about attorneys?? I’m currently in law school and dream of becoming an attorney one day. Specifically, litigation— specifically a personal injury plaintiff’s attorney.

I have done both types of jobs, from a dairy farmer, truck driver to managed a large division at a multi billion dollar tech startup, it's down to personal preference I like to work with my hands and my mind, in my white collar role you can listen to a podcast or audiobook all day long you constantly in meetings and making presentations and sitting behind a desk. I feel even more crappy doing that all day than I do when I run heavy equipment and do tangible work.

Meh, everyone's in on this, unfortunately, plumber Bob and electrician Ed.

Once the money accumulates at the top and everyone is "employed" by the government, you're going to negotiate the public rate, and that includes all the illegals and anyone capable of doing the job. So you'll have to either learn to take what the government thinks you're worth in fiat, or learn to barter with everyone else.

I just hope it's the case that we don't make our currencies so hard to move (illiquid due to it all being in the AI owners' pockets, with a small percentage to anyone still working) that it essentially makes everyone useless.
