New Orbea Occam 2024 | GMBN's Epic Welsh Weekender

Показать описание
To some people, the trail bike is a mile-munching distance machine, and to other people, a trail bike should be a trail-slaying jump park shredder! For this reason, Orbea has split the Occam into two categories. Rich Payne and Anna Cipullo head to the hills aboard the all-new short-travel Occam SL and the longer-travel Occam LT to test the capabilities of both bikes.

Great video, probably one of the best I’ve seen on GNBN (long term viewer here).
Also, hats of to the team behind the lens, the videography and editing is 🔥.

Without question the SL will be my next bike. Normally buy second hand but at the price of the cheapest (alloy) it’s still well specced to be upgraded easily in future. Excited!

I agree, I need to get out and do more riding like this! I can’t imagine how hot those mugs were after being on the burner for a while

Nice. My Fatbike, Salsa Mukluk hardtail excels at this kind of riding. Jumbo in the rear, very fast rolling plus the cush, and Minion FBR on the front with a Mastadon fork. Extremely capable and comfortable bike.

Loved the trail bike ride on the second day! That looked like a great time and I wished I could be there. I would probably go with the LT version because I like the shorter travel. Please do more videos like this.

Great video, the area looked like the back of Pen Twyn Mawr in the Black mountains starting in Crickhowell, I remember riding those hills 25 years ago on a 26er Rock lobster. Amazing place to ride. Great for bikepacking too, there is a bothy on the shores of Gwynne Fawr Resevoir.

I found it funny that Anna was on the heavier/ slower Bike and not vice versa 😅

Seven months ago I had a similar choice to make with Specialized. Do I take the Evo or the regular one.
After testing both extensively I went with the S4 Stumpjumper Expert with 140mm front travel and 130mm rear. I just had overall more fun with it and it was more playful, kinda like Snowboarding is more playful to me over Skiing even though I like both.

I use the flip chip and ride 90% in the high position that rises the bottom bracket 7mm and honestly make a hug difference in the overall handling compared to low.
I also use lighter tires for most of my Trail riding (Ground Control T7 and Fast Trak T5).

Cheers from Switzerland

160/150 is a trail bike now? People race enduro on that travel.
