👋🏻 Hey friends!

I'm busily working to get more tutorial videos up, so keep your eye out for those! 🖥️

In the meantime: I had a question from a subscriber about my coding background and how I got to be where I am today, so I thought I'd make a little video to share my story with you. If you're interested in coding then I hope you find it inspiring, or at the very least interesting! (As always, soft spoken tingles!)

🎵 🎶 If you like the song, you can check out the full video here:

And here are some links to resources I mention in the video. I have used all of these at some point and highly recommend all of them:

Once again, thank you thank you thank you to everyone who's subscribed and commented so far! You guys rock my world 🤘

This is so uncannily similar to what I’m going through right now! I’m a musician in the UK, was terrible at maths in school. Studied music in college and University, graduating with a BA degree in music in 2018. Since graduating I have been teaching guitar/music to kids, I’ve been a special ed teaching assistant for 3 months at a special school and became a waiter for a number of days before throwing in the towel. I’ve always been good at computer software like Adobe Creative Suite, Logic Pro X for music production etc. So, 3 months ago I took a look at programming and fell in love. Now after those 3 months, I’ve got pretty much all the basics covered of JavaScript, html5 and css3. I’m at the stage where I’m confident enough to follow along with website/application project building videos to reinforce what I’ve learned. Are there any particular projects I should build which would impress employers? Only thing I didn’t do was bootcamp… But that’s because I literally cannot afford it and will keep up the self learning day by day. Great video! And Harry Long is me if you’re interested in hearing my music. Many thanks for making this video! (Now I don’t feel too dreadfully alone in my experience)

Thanks for sharing! It was encouraging to hear your story. I'm also pursuing coding. Right now I'm studying everyday. It's nice to see an asmr channel whose focus is programming. It's like two of my favorite things in one :)

I've done freelance development work for many years. Everything I know is self-taught. I even managed a nearly two-year job with a friend throughout the pandemic. But I've gotta be honest, I'm struggling. Nobody wants to hire you without a degree. I pass coding challenges and go through interviews but then I get passed over time after time. It's pretty defeating to know you can do it, but lacking corporate experience and "education" ruins all your opportunities. I've been gradually lowering my expectations to the point that I feel it's almost time to apply to Geek Squad or something.

This explains the unique quality of your voice. Even when speaking softly, a musical tone comes through. Is your music available online?

Love this whole story. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for being you. 👍

No wonder you are so good at whispering and ASMR. Singing well (and you do) requires having control over your voice. Good ASMR requires that too.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm fairly new to your channel but I'm so glad I found it! I love both ASMR and coding. Right now I'm working in an IT position and though I am blessed to have this job, I am not enjoying it at all. I've got a degree in Computer Science but after a long list of interviews I've done and not getting that call, I have felt so frustrated. But listening to stories like yours are motivating me to keep going and not give up. So, just for that I want to say a huge THANK YOU! :)

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm currently considering a career change to software engineering. I've been a freelance photographer and script supervisor for the film industry for 8 years. The number of jobs in this field are decreasing rapidly now and unfortunately I'm always broke. Though I'm really interested in coding/ engineering, filmmaking is all I know. Scary but thank you. Your life story really helped me decide

Your story really hit me. As a musician I feel like I'm getting to give same point in life. I have a full time job that I love at a very inclusive company but I'm not advancing because a new schedule might mess with practice times or shows and so on.

I can't quote or give links to the exact studies, but I have heard/read from reliable news sources and academic sources, that there is a strong connection between those skilled in music (not necessarily performing, but maybe writing music and understanding it) and those with high aptitude in math. Math and music are closely linked in the brain. Now I'm sure you can find exceptions. But I've seen many examples in real life where this holds true. So, for whatever that is worth I strongly believe that to be a GENERAl (though not absolute) truth in human beings. And I would even go so far as to say, that if you find someone who's good at music but thinks they are "bad at math" that *more than half* of the time they just haven't plunged deep enough to "discover" their own ability in that area---math

PRACTICE!? Fuck that! This is America! Actually this is the internet lol Also things that may egg on the naterual talent idea is being good at things that we don't realize we have practice at. like if you've been riding 4 wheelers since you were three people might think you have naterual gift for riding. EDIT: totally did not expect that to be your background.

This isnt how to become a software engineer for everyone, this is how to become a software engineer with female privilege and getting lucky after wasting a ton of money. Can't believe how long you played the video of you singing as well. Waste of 20 mins, should be titled My Life Story.

You got hired to write html and css because you fit the lesbian look and companies are desperate for the image of woke diversity. Software developer my arse.
