may we look forward to eternity with our Lord when we will finally understand and remember clearly

God's timing is perfect. My mother is on her death bed, and my sister is taking it really hard. One of her fears is that we won't remember each other. Thank you God for this podcast, and more importantly that He is redeeming us out of sin and death and into eternal joy and endless praise of Him who is worthy!

If you think about it psychologically, I’ve always thought about it as having the memory but forgetting the pain. Not in the sense that you forget it hurts, but in the sense of the trauma of sin is no longer traumatizing the sinner

If the Holy Ghost can sheild my thoughts now, why not then. He knows what is best for me, I trust my Good God.

Thank you. These insights and Bible based speculation and anticipation were helpful. I believe the "joy inexpressible and full of glory" will pivot around the Lord's protection of His children. Remembering the blessings, forgetting the sorrows. The mercy and grace of His unfailing love for us. When I grieve I am reminded by the Holy Spirit of the reality: that "in His presence is fullness of joy" (Ps.16) and also (Ps 30) indicates that what we mourn is overtaken by the joy that comes after. I appreciate the range of questions addressed to Pastor John and the care he takes to answer biblically, qualifying what is more speculative by texts that reconcile according to reason and our developing understanding as Christians of the character of God, whose ways are so much higher than ours(Isaiah 55) but who invites us, morning by morning, to get to know Him. Thanks again Pastor John and Tony.

When I was healed by God I was taken out of my body and shown a small glimpse of heaven.. But my point is, while this was happening, I knew I was me but I didn't know my name or have any memories of anything. We arnt gonna be left with memories that hurt in the next life 🙏

I'm reminded of Lewis's words in regard to this question. In blessed eternity everything will be blessed and glorified forwards and backwards. Conversely, in eternity without the presence of God everything will be marred in the "timeline" by the lack of that presence. This means, I think, that Jesus will give us the eyes to see even the most traumatic and hurtful events in our life are part of his grand narrative for blessing and restoration.

All we can be sure of is the Lord is capable of doing anything. When we become new beings in heaven, we will be different somehow. That’s undeniable.

The only thing I care about is facing God and Him saying, "well done my good and faithful servant!"

"What Will We Remember in the New Creation?"

Hmmm...I pondered that for 80 yrs of my 91 yrs. Couldn't come up any thing, I felt was right. But when I was 75 yrs old; everything changed. It's too long to write about it. But I now believe it's in the verses below...

Please notice all these: Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith God: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be white as wool.

Hebrews 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I (Jesus) remember no more.

Matthew 22:30 For they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of Jesus in heaven.

Revelation 21:4 And Jesus shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Now...I believe: We will never remember ANY thing; that ever happened; since the 1st Creation.

Because we could't stand it. IF we had loved ones, that went to hell, etc! So I think Jesus will wipe out, all our "remembrances" forever; so that would't ever happen. Praise Jesus' Holy Name. AMEN!

I always thought we wouldn't remember otherwise we would mourn for our relatives that aren't in Heaven.

I found this video very helpful, thank you.

However, I have often wondered about our memory in the age to come regarding our loved ones who rejected Christ. It seems obvious that we cannot have fulness of joy thinking about their suffering. Will we forget about them? Will we look at them as defeated enemies of Christ (that was touched on in the video) and receiving what they deserve? I just don't know.

No disagreement but how do you reconcile with Ecclesiastes 9:5, "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten."

if all of this is forgotten then it makes everything in this dispensation "a waste of time" then if that's the case what happens to the glory God receives from what He has done for us in blessings, His sacrifice on the cross, prayers He has answered etc... Also His word shall stand forever and part of His word are mentions of sins men committed and how He handled them - think King David, Bathsheba and the murdering of her husband etc...
