When you spoke about that Rooster, my farmer father in law would say, “do something with it. Before something bad happens.” Seriously, when we have some animal over the years that can not be trusted it has to be dealt with. Safety First!!

My daughters now appreciate how prepared momma is after this week in Missouri. We got about 2 inches of sleet and ice with 3 inches of snow on top. We were warm and fed without rushing out like everyone else.

Yes, Pibbles are the best. My late girl Samara was a snow white Pittie and over the years she helped me raise countless motherless kittens and puppies who I had to bottle raise. She would do the job that their mothers would do- stimulate them to go pee-pee and poo-poo. She was always at my side and she loved everyone. She always made sure all new babies felt safe and comfortable. Samara was a rescue whose human threw her and her 4 two-week-old babies out on someone’s driveway in December. This happened in Chattanooga. The driveway had ice on it. The temperature was in the 20s. Such a long story but Samara was the best dog ever who had been neglected and abused. I miss her so much it breaks my heart to even talk about her.

I had a 12 pound buff orpington rooster that was mean as a hornet and attacked me every chance he got until he ended up in the freezer

Another great year! Finally got dining room temp in the OLD farmhouse up to 65. Take the weather as it comes, God is Good.
I look back to -18 in 1978 N. W. Ohio.
Love the Great Pyrenes dogs. Have had them on the farm since 2003. God is Good.

Absolutely correct Patara its all about the money. Your also right about the cold wearing you out. It just keeps pulling and pulling at ya. When its hot it at least cools and gives you a small break. When its like this it just gets colder no break. ❤

Patera, it was nice to meet you, your husband and new puppies yesterday at the veterinarian. It's funny how you can recognize someone and think, " how do I know them ?" then I heard you talking to the receptionist and the lightbulb went on ! Thanks for all you do, I've enjoyed watching you explain good farming practices and producing healthy food and preserving and storage....not to mention insightful commentary on the crazy times we're in.
