Talking points: The Wake-Up Call, The Preparation, The Importance of Early Attachment, Redefining Success, The Balance Game, Call to Action

I discuss the vital role of paternity leave and why I decided to take two months off following the birth of my daughter. Inspired by my experiences and recent discussions in my men's group, I explore the cultural and corporate pressures men face when choosing to prioritize family time. Reflecting on a story from my time at Apple, where a colleague missed a promotion for taking paternity leave, I highlight the ongoing societal expectations placed on men to continually provide without pause.

I also share the preparations I made within my own business to ensure I could be present for my family during this crucial period. Emphasizing the importance of early attachment and parental presence, I explain my decision to be there not just for my newborn daughter, but also for my son, helping him transition into his new role as a big brother.

Tune in to hear how you can advocate for your own paternity leave, no matter your job, and why being present during these early moments can have a lasting impact on your family's well-being.

Suzanne Venker is a life and marriage coach who talks to many young women about working their jobs and careers in their earlier years to save up money to specifically have time in the future to afford to not work when they have their first child or two so they don't have to send them off to daycare or hand them off to someone else while that many couples have not figured to try and do nowadays. This was really solid foresight to plan way ahead of time to make sure future time was carved out for you and your daughter. Awesome work.

Great topic and important one. I took a whole month off when my daughter was born (she came a month early in January) but I still took the whole month of February off. Had to cancel my clients and I got a job offer at the same but told them I would only start in March and they were okay with it. Family and Kids first!

I am happy to live in a country where I have had 3 times a full year off with all my 3 kids. We also have had 2 times 3 month travelling the East and the Caribean and next year we are going 3 month to Africa ;)

Such an important topic! I never realized the stigma until my husband took paternity leave for all three of our Every man in his life (My dad, his dad, uncles, friends) would tease him for taking the PAID paternity leave that his company offered him!
They would say things like "you still waiting for your vagina to heal?"

I live in Germany and here it is completely normal that men take paternity leave after a child is born. The German government pays 14 month of maternity/paternity leave and often mums take 12 month and dads two months (so did I). But sometimes it is even shared 50 - 50 so that both take 6 month. And fewer and fewer people question this, thank God. Of course people had to get used to this. 15 years ago some companies were hesitant but still this leave is granted by law, so they could not do anything. Nowadays taking paternity leave for fathers is even encouraged by a lot of companies. Times change, and that is good.

The ones with 100 millions spend many years figuring out...how to marry someone who doesnt love him for his money.
so they have millions, but waste time thinking about how probably unloved they are.

Success can be also in little things.
so the ones with less money dont waste time, because they have family.
