How does the Mercedes-Benz Stadium work?

The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is unlike any other stadium in the world! This video goes through in detail all the different levels, the halo board and retractable roof.

This video has been dubbed in over 20 languages, you can change the audio track language in the Settings menu (click the gear icon in the lower right hand corner of the video).

The stadium is home of the Atlanta Falcons NFL football team and the the chosen venue for the 2019 Super Bowl LIII (53). It opened in August of 2017. It has a retractable roof with 8 petals each weighing 500 tons each. It can open or close in only 8 minutes so that bad weather doesn't have to ruin the game. The stadium has a 360 degree halo board so it can be clearly seen from any seat in the stadium. There's also private suites, clubs, and plenty of food choices at decent prices.

I watched a TON of youtube videos about the stadium to get a feel for the stadium - too many to list here. Lots of newscasters, vloggers, etc...

Dude, you are insanely skilled with animation in my opinion. Keep up the great work!

No one's appreciating all the maths that went into this. Those absolutely required really intelligent people. Salute to those who contributed into building this stadium.

I did some of the magnetic particle NDT inspection of welds on this stadium. I was blown away by the CNC routing of the metal which included indentations for other steel to be placed in. This assured incredible accuracy.

The WiFi cables are so long it can make a trip from Atlanta to Nevada. I learned that from the tour they gave us at the stadium

Also home to the 2018 MLS Cup Champions - Atlanta United!

Useless because you did not tell us how many football fields fit in to it.

The time you spend on making these videos is perplexing

I went to atlanta for the Peach Bowl and the stadium is a modern marvel. The design was incredible and catches your eye instantly. It felt so so so open inside and never claustrophobic. The Halo board was all so incredible to see because no matter where you are seated you can always see the instant replay without having to crack your neck to look all the way up four to the left and right if you're on the sidelines. Not to mention once you buy a drink at any concession stand you get unlimited Coca-Cola products the entire game since Atlanta is a Coca-Cola City so that's also a major upside never having to pay for refills or stand in line I probably saw 50 Coke machines and I was on the first level not to mention everything that was above me

I love watching stuff I like this 👍 I'm new to your channel just to give you an idea for some other videos. you should do airports airport from different states just so when people get there they have an idea of how the airport works because sometimes airports can be a bit confusing I still work at the Orlando airport that's where I'm from and people just feel lost all the time so I thought I'll be a great idea for you to do videos of airports? Atlanta is America's most technologically advanced city----it also has the 3rd most Fortune 500 headquarters (Coke, UPS, Delta, Home Depot, etc) and the world's busiest/biggest airport. What a place for a Super Bowl! Well done! Very interesting. Once upon a time, I inspected a very small percentage of the structural steel. It's great to see how the finished building looks. The amount of work that you put into your videos! You explain things so well and your graphics and 3D models are great! Wow, Jared, this was awesome. Your animations are excellent, and combined with your narration, are easy for anyone to understand. Great job! Now this is the quality we need on YouTube. Great job man, keep it up! I’m not a fan of sports or whatever, but the architecture and planning that goes into stadiums are feats of engineering!! Your animations are absolutely legendary, better than a lot of what I've seen. I watch a lot of your videos and look forward to new ones! Keep up the good work buddy! What an amazing video! As a soccer fan, I sort of wish that you showed the transition from football to soccer fields, or how they partition off the top level for some soccer games, but an incredible video nonetheless. I just subscribed.
Really nice work Jared. That roof is an engineering marvel. I do Architectural Drafting, but nothing at this level. I could only imagine what their blueprints look like. Absolutely brilliant. This is really fun to watch, especially since I've been here for many different events and many different levels of seats. It's also fun to see my high school's helmet in the homegrown legends area. Do an impact wrench that would be cool and I’m sure many people would be very interested to see how they work I love how you break down things in your videos! I got to go here for Deca nationals last year and we received a tour of the different levels and even got to see the locker rooms it was pretty cool. They have the whole palace running like a warehouse the way the staff works it’s pretty neat. Inside it’s massive like when you walk in you can’t believe it’s all under one dome when you look across and see how far the other end is I've been to this stadium twice as a performer in 2018 and 2019. Let me tell you, even the kind of "backstage" areas are super nice. And the stadium is just ginormous. From the field, people in the nosebleeds are just specks. Awesome video! Especially love the close look at the iris pedal roof. Really brilliant piece of architecture, engineering, and technology on a giant scale. Your video skills never cease to amaze me. Thanks for another superb production! As a Georgia native, this is the most beautiful stadium in the world, also the suites are absolutely amazing. You are an absolute wizard! I've now watched two videos -- this one and the one about the toy car. The graphics are beautiful; and your camera angles and explanations are perfect -- timing and everything. I'm subscribing now--I'm hooked.
I never knew those roof pedals were completely reliant on counter levering and not having their mating edges sliding on the raceways of the adjacent petals. Kind of makes me wonder how the innermost roof beams underneath must not only support the weight of the metal roof but also the forces generated by the inner main bearing rail. So instead of holding up 500 tons on the main rail it most likely has to withstand over 2000 tons on each rail. That is one super strong roof. This is amazing structural engineering. Can you do an animation on the Missouri's 16" gun turret operations? These were very complex machines when they were operating. Your animation is amazing. Thank you for preparing them for us. I think a good idea would be to do stadiums when they were first built and how they evolved over time and the reasons for it the halo board is one of the most impressive things when you're in there. the whole stadium is a much better experience in person than on television. Would be really cool to see an animation about Rotor excavators. Or other heavy machinery. being an Atlantan, all I have to say is that seeing the stadium alone is an experience. when inside, it's indescribable. anyone who gets the chance should see the stadium, it's worth it. Great animation. Looking forward to more work in the future! I love these animations! Wish you could do more! I worked with a transportation and logistics company that helped haul some of the more massive pieces of the stadium. I believe we even hauled the Falcon statue out front. 🤔 I helped document some of the truck movements through the city. It was a cool project but we weren't allowed to document anything inside the building during construction. 🤐😅
