*Fun Fact* : Filoni was going to have Ventress appear in ‘Star Wars Resistance’ a few years ago, where she would be hunted by Kylo Ren and they’d fight, so they’ve been planning on retconning her death from Dark Disciple for awhile now…I’m honestly just so excited to see more of her.

They have apparent says that Ventress's story will "align" with the Dark Disciple novel but that word is being deliberately vague. If align means "is inspired by" than sure, but if Ventress is alive and well here, it's impossible for Dark Disciple to still be canon and congruent with this new season.

That novel makes it pretty clear what happens to Ventress and that story was very much dependent of the setting of the Clone Wars and heavily features characters like Dooku and Obi-Wan who can't play the same role in this series. This season will probably take heavy inspiration from Dark Disciple and have her follow a similar arc as the book albeit retooled with different characters and settings to fit the Post-Clone Wars world. And this new story of Ventress will likely retcon Dark Disciple which will have to slide in a nebulous space between the EU and Lucas's original canon.
