This month on the Orthodox Mom Sisterhood (Patreon) we will be learning all about Prosphoro Baking. I’ve had sooo many requests for this over the years and struggled with the best way to share the information so that,

1. It would be beneficial and helpful.
2. It would give me the proper space to teach it with the respect it deserves.

And our Sisterhood community is the perfect place! It is full of pious women struggling for their salvation with a willingness to learn and grow! 🌱

I was taught how to prepare prosphoro by our Gerondissa of blessed memory almost twenty years ago. I’ve learned so much from her and the other sisters at our monasteries and am excited to pass their knowledge on to you exactly the way it was given to me. Preparing Prosphoro is truly an art, which means there will be a lot of trial and error and learning from mistakes! Twenty years in and I still have not perfected it but I feel so blessed by the process that I will continue to offer them for as long as I’m able! 🙏🏼

We’ll be learning what the different parts of the seal symbolize, how to properly prepare it, prayers to recite before and during the preparation of the bread, how to transport it to church, supplies required, and more.

We will be baking our prosphoro the traditional way, using prozimi (blessed starter), like it has been for generations before conventional yeast was even around! Which means, you’ll learn the history of prozimi and how to make it yourself!
