Ban Dara Junction rail bridge that crosses the Nan River in Uttaradit Province, northern Thailand. The original bridge crossing was constructed in 1909 and carried the railway line from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Sadly, this beautiful bridge was destroyed in 1944 during WWII, using 1000lb bombs dropped from an American heavy bomber, a B-24 Liberator. The current bridge is a 1953 replacement, known as “The Great One Bridge". The bridge span dimensions are: 80.60 + 101.2.0 + 80.60m. The train crossing the bridge is a Alsthom No. 4109 locomotive built in 1974/5. The loco has a SEMT Pielstick 16PA4V185 sixteen cylinder V-engine, which produces 2400 hp at 1500 rpm and with top speed of 95km/hr.
