Jodie has four grown children and is well-acquainted with the ongoing worries & passion parents have for their adult children. She encourages parents to recognize their limits of control & influence, and learn how to trust God with their adult child’s future. Jodie is quick to admit her own failures in this area, and how she’s tried to rely on God’s strength by using specific scriptures as templates for prayer.

Jodie shared stories about praying about her son’s anger issues, how a friend learned to love her cohabitating daughter rather than condemn her, and what it means to grow your own faith despite whatever lifestyle choices your adult kids make.

I encourage all mothers to not be afraid to completely let go and sign off duty as a mom of adult children. You can keeo praying for them but you dont need to keeo doing for them, planning for them, thinking for them, trying to save them from their own mistakes and definitely not put up with false entitlement and lack of gratitude. Find your own life and enjoy being liberated from being mom. Create your life that is seperate from being a mother. You can decide if its an emergency and you need to step in but let them figure out life without mom for awhile.

My daughter is 28 years old and she has inherited my depression and severe anxiety issues and right now she is dealing with heartbreak ...her spouse of 7 years is cheating on her and has told her she has 2 weeks to get her own place and then her 18 year old cat Is about to die any day now and she is scaring me because she is talking about how she just wants to die and as a mother this just crushes my heart and soul...I feel like this is something I can't fix ...I can't make her spouse love her and I can't save her beloved pet from passing away as well as many other issues that are going on in her life so now I feel all I can do is pray and be there for her...I have not been able to sleep lately because I'm wrecked with worry about her but i know she will get through this hard time in her life...

This is so hard! I worry about my young parent children! My youngest daughter 25, ALWAYS needs me! Shes my "baby". But her mental, spiritual, financial woes are stressing me completely out! I'VE GOT TO START TRANSFERRING THAT TO THE LORD TO TAKE CARE OF. I cannot carry those burdens and change them by stressing about them. Yall pray for me and them😇
