Doug Sings Junk by Paul McCartney

Another addition to the Paul McCartney Appreciation Series.

A commentary on wasteful consumer culture, Junk was written during his trip to India with The Beatles in 1968, and recorded for his 1970 album "McCartney". Acoustic songs rarely get more beautiful than this.

Beautiful Doug! Fantastic vocal and guitar performance. This song is not just beatiful music, but the lyrics tells us to enter the circular economy. If we reuse things we help the economy. I remember an interview with the daughters of McCartney saying that they had to buy used closed (Linda's demand). Their ecological and environmental view is also confirmed by the fact of them being vegetarians.

KILLER!! so glad I found this channel. it's your own (great!) voice, but I love how faithful you are to all of the little details I love about the original reversion. the touch on the strings at 0:40 sounds just like McCartney, and you have the same sensitivity on the vocals right after that bit. love it, love it! great tune. please keep posting!

This is such a brilliant cover! I was wondering if you’d be interested in being part of a Paul McCartney tribute album I’m trying to organise to celebrate his 80th birthday in June? The idea is to get a bunch of different artists to do covers of some of his hidden gems like this one (i.e. songs from his Wings and solo work that aren’t as well-known as his big hits), and make the album available on Bandcamp with the proceeds going to an animal charity, which he’s very passionate about.
