Picked that shit up and expected it to be tied to a secret or something, but it only exists to fuck you up or be sold and fuck up the person who bought it.
The true Zone focused into a artefact.

Just found one, an amazing catch in Cordon at the Rock Crusher Anomaly. Even with nearly kitted out with high radiation portection and with improved freon emission module and putting it in the led container I was still very slowly being irradiated.

Really wish NPCs could be affected by artifact because I would definitely drop this in front of Barkeep to melt his flesh to avenge all the lowballing he did to my shit

"Lemme guess, He would like a death lamp too?"
"Believe it or not he does"

>Find literally the deadliest, worst artifact, one that can literally kill anyone that holds it long enough
>Puts it in an AAC

Artifacts like this is why duty exists

Give it to your companions since they act as mobile LLCs that can hold any artefact without containers and never be irradiated. Then sell it to the trader for like 40000 rubles.

I don't really remember where I first found one, I think it was in Cordon, near the Misery Bread artifact (yes there is an artifact bread). And this is why I love the Anomaly mod so much, it reminds me of my scientific work trips into tropical forests. As you described the Death Lamp looked like a Rafflesia, and it kind of does. Back in undergraduate I joined an exoedition as a photiographer for Rafflesia zollingeriana and the other flora surrounding it including of course the Tetrastigma vine that was the sole host for Rafflesia parasite flowers (yes, all Rafflesia are parasites that don't have true roots nor leaves). What's tiring is we found iirc 202 flowers, and I think only 2 or 4 of them were fully blooming, one half of the rest were still bulbs of cells with unblooming dark red petals, and the other half were rotting from old age. The Death Lamp looks like a half rotting upside down Rafflesia. Finding the Death Lamp in Anomaly always remind me of the tiring documentation work of that expedition (had to keep track of the spots of the Rafflesia that fellow expedition members reported by screaming FOUND ONE every they saw one, at my general direction. Also the forest location has like nearly 90 degrees of inclination and was full of boulders and vines—both actually help in climbing)
I think I have some of the documentation uploaded to my shutterstock for people to buy if they want.

Without having digged into Anomaly much yet, I absolutely appreciate that even after such a long time, the story and lore of the Zone are still being expanded upon by the fans. Even such subtle things as an artifact description help a great deal to make the Zone more...alive. It makes absolute sense that new artifacts - maybe more tied to the damaged noosphere of the game's lore and thus inherently psychoactive, ontological even - would eventually show up or at least be discovered.
Let's get into Game Theory: The Death Lamp - a cursed artifact. Maybe the Zone intends this as the direct opposite to the Compass artifact, an inherently blessed artifact? One leads astray, the other leads the way?

Just found one in a collapsed house in the Bloodsucker Village; it wasn't the radiation that nearly killed me, it was nearly being over-encumbered from a bunch of looting and then picking this thing up, not realising it weighed 9kg.

Love the nod to Roadside Picnic, I only just started playing Anomaly and it's great to see stuff like this.

I imagined 2 stalkers walking around the zone and finding it.

-Hey! An artifact! SCORE!

-Oleg, im not sure about this one. It looks like a Death Lamp. Heard some stories. people say its cursed. Stalkers died, people vanished after taking it. Nightmare stuff. We should leave it

-Oh come on, curses aint real! Those are stories for children.

-Oleg... we literally fought a teleporting, illusionist dog, a bloodsucking vampire thing and a dwarf using some fucked up magic to throw things at us just on the way here! We are LITERALLY looking fo a giant obelisk that is granting FUCKING WISHES! NOT TO MENTION ZOMBIES ALL OVER THIS GOD-FORSAKEN AREA!

-You know what? Point taken. Lets go

-Thats what i thought....

The cool kids know that this is a Roadside Picnic reference, and it was originally described as some "ray-emitting" device.

Imagine if there was the possibility to scare bandits and other Stalkers by taking out the Death Lamp from the lead lined container and menacingly walking towards them with this seed of Satan in hand. Imagine being a highly superstitious Stalker and this mad lad just approaches you with the most dangerous artefact in the Zone.
