Klein Tools receptacle and GFCI tester model RT 250 will test outlets and GFCIs and let you know if they are correctly wired on its LCD screen. It is durable and will withstand a drop from 6.6'. It should be used on 120-volt outlets only.

Seems way better than the standard ones with just lights on them.

I have both of these. I've been curious what exactly does the button do on the Klein RT210 or any brand gfci tester. I know what the effect is, but how does it work? So from what I can tell, it allows a current flow through a resistor between hot and ground. The resistance I measured for this particular one is 53.8kΩ with the button pressed and the tester not plugged in. I'm guessing that this resistance had been calculated to provide just a little more than 6 milliamps to leak, enough to trip a properly working gfci, but not nearly enough to involve a 15 amp circuit breaker. If the resistance is lower it may take 1 or 2 amps to flow before it trips and would not be an accurate test. That's my understanding anyway.

In the market for a GFCI tester. I like this one. Thanks for the review.

What does a red light and both yellow lights on at the same time mean?

Hello

When the GFCi is reset and I plug it in, it says wired correctly and I have the green light. When I hit test, the GFCI trips. When I plug back in the outlet tester once it's tripped it says open hot, is this normal? When I hit the reset button it says its wired correctly everytime
