You Are Not Your Emotions
If you realise you’d like to work on your emotional maturity, then you’re going to do something amazing.

Every single time you react emotionally to something – be it a friend letting you down in the above example or just someone spilling a drink on the carpet – you have an opportunity to improve. See these as opportunities to get just a tiny bit better each time. If you don’t manage it on any occasion, when you feel calm again, look back and see what you can learn. It’s as much about the learning as it is the doing. And remember, if it takes a long time, that’s normal – just like learning a new language.

The intensity of your emotional response to something is not an accurate indication of how important that thing is. We just interpret it that way.

Consider your emotion an invitation to consider action, nothing more. Sometimes the response may be justified. Others, an opportunity to learn how to deal with it.

Life becomes easier when you’re more in control, for you and those around you. The more you work on it the easier it’ll be, and the more rational control you’ll have.

Then life gets easier for everyone.
