Time-Life records did a series in the 60's-70's called As You Remember Them. They were re-creations of instrumental hits - Billy May did a number of these for them - they were note for note recreations of the originals - that's why this recording is so close to Wanderley's version...

Hello Anderson, Thank you for the reply and the additional information about the recording and the composers. Walter's playing always impressed me as it was so fluid with continuous rhythm that seemed to so fit into the melody i8n a very natural way.

You are right.
I have all records of Walter Wanderley, Billy May has just some samples of Organ Music, I agree tha Billy May has a good work in music, a kind of orchestration very beautiful, but this arrangement belong to Walter. I don't know how anyone can't listen the true, the composers are from Brazil, Marcos Valle, the lyrics are in portuguese language, Walter recorded in Brazil years before going to USA, THE RHYTHM IS PURE BRAZIL.

Those heady days of wonderful sounds and sophisticated moods of love and excitement. Today's shit is grotesque by comparison.

Type in " Walter Wanderly - So Nice" and listen to the selection. It is identical to the one that we are discussing.

Aline Hernandez, the name of this song is not "SO NICE", maybe Billy May though that WALTER WANDERLEY music was so nice, and copied the entire arrangement. The real name of this music is; SAMBA DE VERÃO, become SUMMER SAMBA when he recorded his second LP in USA and included some old works made in Brazil. Compare both audio, see that Walter don't have those small "rallentandos" of someone learning to play. The music is 100% from Brazil, Bossa Rhythm, Brazilian composers, Instruments and player;

Yes you are right "amtrakatsfnyc" this arrangement was recorded by Walter Wanderley in Brazil, before he went to live in USA, his first recording is in Vinyl and the title of the music is: "SAMBA DE VERÃO", Summer Samba is a mere translation to English, the composer of the music are two Brazilien brothers: Marcos Valle e Paulo Sérgio Valle, they were friends of Walter that asked for recorded on his Hammond B3, after 8 years B. May recorded with the same Walter Improvisation, May don't play well

The most famous version is from Walter Wanderley's 1966 album "Rain Forest".
The Billy May version (the one in THIS video you are hearing right now) was recorded later.
