4. Blue-Green
We talked about blue. We talked about green. Now we get to that strange in-between shade: blue-green (sometimes referred to as “sea-green"). We explained earlier how eye color depends on both the pigment in the stroma and how your iris reflects light. Have you ever looked at a lake it was blue, only to return at a different time of the day and it seemed green? That’s basically what happens when people appear to have blue eyes one minute and green the next. Remember how we said mood could change eye color? Well turns out, factors such as weather can change that, too! Then there’s also people that have eye colors that appear a combination of green and blue. Research shows that only 3 to 5% of the human population have blue-green eyes. The mixed shade of these two just began appearing in the human species 10,000 years ago. Scientists say the mixed color likely originated from human mating in Mesopotamia while the eye color nowadays is most prevalent in Scandinavia. There is another way blue and green may display themselves in the eye at the same time, but we’ll get to that later!

3. Hazel
Out of all the eye colors out there, hazel is the most confusing. We frequently mistake amber, green, and light brown for hazel. What is hazel, then? Hazel is defined as the combination of a fair amount of melanin in the iris and Rayleigh scattering, giving hazel-eyed folk a mix of brown and green. Like blue-green eyes, hazel eyes may present themselves as more green in one instance and more brown the next. The pupil ring will either be green or brown. Hazel is also the combinations of various shades of green and brown. One person's hazel eyes is unique to someone else's hazel eyes. Someone of Middle Eastern, Spanish, Brazilian, and North African descent have a higher likelihood of hazel eyes running in the family. In the world, about 21% of the population have hazel eyes. Celebrities such as David Beckham and Halle Berry are included in that percentage!

2. Black Eyes?
Black eyes as a result of bruising after someone punched you in the face? That exists. Black as eye color? That does not exist. You might come across individuals with eyes so dark they appear black, but take a look at this photo. If you look closely, you’ll realize this person’s black eyes are just a super deep brown. In dimmer lighting, their eyes will probably appear black. The darker your eye color is, the more melanin is present. People with the darkest of brown eyes have the highest amount of melanin pigment. Dark brown is the most dominant eye color in humans, though very dark brown eyes are a little less common. If someone with dark brown eyes had a child with someone who had very light blue eyes, their child will, in all probability, have brown eyes. A lot of those with the darkest of brown eyes are either of Asian or African descent

There's one color I didn't see. I have a friend that has extremely dark green eyes. The most beautiful eye color I have ever seen. Kind of a mix with emerald and ocean green but dark. I've never seen anyone else with that color in my 58 years.

I have a black eye... I had to have my iris removed from my left eye. Before it was removed my iris was completely destroyed and was blocking my vision. It looked as tho my iris and pupil were stirred together. Like a marble.

I think my eyes are very unique. I was born with ocular albinism and had bright blue eyes when I was born. When I got older they started to get darker and now I have dark blue eyes, they look pretty similarly to Sienna Miller’s. The craziest thing is when I cry my eyes turn into a vibrant teal color, which looks pretty unnatural and something I have never seen before. While I love the pigment of my eyes I have a lot of problems with them including a stigmatism and constant eye floaters, I have to be aware of the sun and wear shades constantly. Sorry for that little ramble I just thought it would be interesting to share.

I have dark green eyes. My daughter was born with dark green eyes that went brown. Her father had mid green eyes. Mood, health and environment effect the shade.

I have hazel eyes and so does my mother. And I didn't think that eye color was that rare. but the weird thing with my eyes. Is that my one eye is more green than brown. And my other eye is more brown than green. But I so wish I had pure green or purple eyes. Especially purple eyes since that is one of my 3 favorite colors. The other 2 are red and black. Even black eyes I would so love to have as well.

I have central heterochromia where the color around my pupils is green and the ring of color on the edge of my iris is blue. Sometimes my eyes look more blue or they look more green, sometimes they look teal or turquoise even gray depending on what color I'm wearing and the lighting.

The color on the edge of my irises has nothing to do with central heterochromia but I thought it gives good context as to the color of my eyes.
