These comments are crazy. Born and raised here and love this town. Y'all are commenting like you thought you were getting off the boat in manhattan. What did you expect??? Super safe, can commute 20 miles in 30 min, tons of jobs, beautiful countryside, plethora of sit down restaurants, active community, 4 golf courses, drag strip, 5 high schools, great university.... People just want want want and can't slow down to take a breath. This ain't Nashville. This ain't LA. This ain't New York. If being an ant in a hill full of self absorption then yes you probably don't like Bowling Green

My wife & I moved to Alvaton from the suburbs of Rochester, NY about 4-years ago. We bought a house valued about the same as our home in Rochester. Taxes were $8200 a year up north and $1700 a year in Kentucky. I built a 30'x40' bluilding for my hobby interests with NO zoning hassle at all. Got my building permit in a month or so of applying and had it up in three months after that. Zoning people couldn't have been and friendlier and helpful. Contrast that with Rochester, where they seem to delight in throwing obstacles in your way to delay a project as long as possible. We really love it here.

I love the country life, but also like to go to SKYPAC for cultural events or many of the better restaurants and locally owned diners for a great meal. Beech Bend Park for the grandchildren & drag racing.

I'm 77-years old and am sorry I didn't get here sooner, but I found the place I plan to die in.

Moved here from Florida to Rockyhill, KY near Smithsgrove and 30 miles from Bowling Green. We absolutely love it here! I work at Kobe Aluminum (KAAP) and the pay is very awesome! And no development planned where i live out here in the country. 3200 SQ foot farmhouse on 4 acres. 155k is all i paid for our home! $1200 a year for property taxes! Edmonson county

I lived in BG for a few years because I was going to college, lived up in Brownsville most of my life. Personally, the place was not for me. It was the most country-fied version of a city you could get. There's hardly anything to do around there, and the most frustrating thing is the Greenwood mall, which last I looked had more shoe stores than anything else, getting rid of better stores for literally nothing. The place is pretty quiet, which was nice, but because BG is pretty sleepy, nearly everything is closed by 8PM, hardly anything open past then which is difficult for more night-centric people like me.
I moved to Canada and I'm much happier here than I had ever been there.

Was born and raised in BG. Everywhere is good, just avoid clay street and that area on the backside of the wku stadium. Oh and you'd have a lot more views if you got out from infront of a green screen and actually ventured into BG. Nobody is going to care you have a camera out. I remember the most massive change that BG had was in the 90s when the bridge on Campbell lane got put in and then went from 2 lanes to 4 (two each direction). I remember the original Walmart use to be thr AFNI building and you could smoke while shopping. That was very early 90s.

Hey, Id like to know whether gays can live in Kentucky. Is louisville a welcoming place for gays and how is your attitude about those people. Would you respect me, if I live as a gay in Louisville???

Born and raised just outside of Bowling Green in Smiths Grove! Spent my whole life in Bowling Green :). I love it, and it's not to confusing once you get use to it.

Traffic here is awful. Kinda surprising for a small town. Plus half the people you encounter are complete weirdos.

Don't you dare! There is history, culture, dining, sports, outdoor adventure, arts, literary.

You are from brownsville complaining about bowling green being boring??? Yes it's a country-fied city. I'd prefer large town honestly. And the mall doesn't get rid of stores. If they can't pay the lease price of their unit then they lose the Your username checks out.

Was born here and actually left after the 10th grade. My only problem with all the progress is the lack of things happening in the black community whats left of it. Most of the historical history is erased and has not been kept by people that are still there. The greyhound bus company no longer exists and exhausting in the that most events you are the only person of color there. Blacks that attend Western seem out of the loop and wouldn't know where to start for a colorful ethnic reality that would make those that used to live want to return. Just saying.
