How to save a half dead Aerides odorata!

Aerides odorata - “ child of air “ . The name pretty much implies how this fragrant orchid is supposed to be cultured. And anyone smart would surely do so, but lazy me. Nope. I had to put in into semi hydro self watering. It did well for about one and a half years - I thought. But then i noticed it got dehydrated and started to wither away. So I repotted it four month ago to find that I had drowned all the roots. As a last resort, I potted the massive aerial roots into the pot. I was lucky. The aerial roots survived being pot up in sphagum moss and bark. The plant bounced back very quickly, root tips spread in and outside the pot . I will make sure it’s does dry out more though. After all, nomen est omen. It’s sitting on an east facing window sill in my bathroom.
