Forrest Fenn's Controversial Treasure Hunt | Dispatches From The Middle
Показать описание
In 2010, Forrest Fenn hid a treasure chest worth millions of dollars in the Rocky Mountains with only a few vague clues from his book, "The Thrill of the Chase." In it, a poem drew a treasure map, pointing to its whereabouts. Thousands have attempted to find it, and some never returned.
The treasure was somewhere spanning the Rockies from New Mexico to Colorado and Wyoming. Fenn wanted to do this for "every redneck out there with a pickup truck, six kids who just lost his job, his wife and lacks adventure."
After the book was published, his story went viral. Fenn's hope was that the gold would inspire nature lovers to get outside, hike and enjoy outdoor adventures.
Fenn's legacy does not come without controversy. He has been labeled plunderer of native lands and was asked to end the hunt after the deaths of at least 5 people, including Randy Bilyeu, Jeff Murphy, Pastor Paris Wallace, Eric Ashby and Michael Wayne Sexton.
10 years later, the treasure chest was found by an anonymous hiker called "The Finder." In December 2020, after this video was published, 32-year-old Jack Stuef, a medical student from Michigan, was revealed to be "The Finder."
So, was it a hoax? Does the mystery remain unsolved? Watch the FULL story, with an interview from Fenn himself. Albuquerque news anchor Shelby Cashman from @KOAT digs into the mystery of Forrest Fenn's treasure.
