I'm an all VLM guy this my process... #1 Vacuum, #2 Pre spot, #3Pre Spray, #4 Agitate, #5 Extract with Polar Pad on OP machine and Final Step is to groom carpets with carpet rake. Works like a charm!

The reason for alternate cleaning direction.
Hot water reduces water tension, and cleans better.
Deionized water does also.
I've seen cold deionized water rinse, and clean as well as hot water.
A final neutralizing with a pad, and neutralizer is more labor, but more complete

That streak coming from the side of your wand is due to your pressure being way to hight for that wand of the amount of jets that wand uses. Just a little tip.
