My mind is blown. Never have there been so many "WHAAATTT?" moments while reading a book.

This is the book for June for my Genre Exploration Challenge. I usually try and avoid spoilers, but I didn't really know how to explain the explosion of my brain with out some spoilers.

I loved reading Oracle Night, and I must confess, I love Auster as a writer, and . . . let's just it's a great read in the po-mo mode of things and that it is just amazing how the reader gets woven into the many layers of narrative yet never gets tangled up . . .

The Book Of Illusions is truly captivating and heartbreaking. I loved it!

I just finished this one. I bought it years ago and just not finally got to it. I really enjoyed it and this is my second read from Auster and I've enjoyed both books immensely. Loved hearing your thoughts and commentary on this :) Nice review and analysis. It's sort of a "story within a story within a story"

As a footnote hater, I suggest you never try 'House of Leaves' (which I, who generally don't object to footnotes, totally could not finish because of the footnotes). I haven't read any Paul Auster, but what you are describing really reminds me of a film I saw a year or two back 'Stranger than Fiction'.

This book fuckin sucked and was a drag to get through. Paul Auster eat your heart out, more like get a beer and forget about the goddamn thing forever.

Great, inciteful review Emily, but I have to say you've not exactly won my enthusiasm. Your 'footnotes' irritation due to lack of flow offers no attraction to a Kindle reader for sure.
