Gotta love how Bucky's character development has come full circle.

Steve gave people something to believe in.

Sam gave people someone they could aspire to be.

Now Bucky is giving hope to those whose lives have been led astray, becoming a shining example that you CAN step out of overconsuming darkness, because if there's anyone who's had it bad in their life, it's literally him.

I love that this movie isn’t afraid to be different with its tone in marketing throughout all of its promos and trailers. One lifts us up with some good laughs and action and then this one gives us a more emotional look at some heroes while showing the power of our villain.

Thunderbolts was genuinely something special. I went in skeptical, ngl - my expectations were to the FLOOR LMAO. Grounded heroes/anti-heroes can be tricky to balance — but they completely surpassed my expectations. Honestly, it made everything in the MCU since Endgame feel like filler in comparison. This was the first Marvel project in a long time that really MEANT something, both for continuing the story, but also from a narrative standpoint.

The story had heart. It’s the first time since Daredevil and Endgame that a Marvel story actually made me cry. If you’ve ever been in a dark place, this movie will hit you hard. It touches on grief and its ripple effects on a family, addiction and drug use, the lingering scars of trauma, mental illness/health - A LOT of heavy stuff!!

And i really loved Lewis Pullman's Sentry. It was a raw, vulnerable performance (although he felt a lil goofy sometimes.) He’s like a 'Superman' stripped of all the performative virtue — more human, more believable. Watching him genuinely feels like watching someone fight their way back from the edge. Honestly, it felt like watching myself. If you know you know and if you've been there you've been there.

There are clear influences from The Boys in how the story critiques power. Especially from the true antagonist's perspective. She felt a little dumb sometimes but I could see her motive. I appreciated how the film doesn’t shy away from showing a world trying to survive without the Avengers. It made the universe feel tangible again.

There’s so much I could say about it lol but it gives me a little hope for where the MCU is finally headed.
