This is explained in the books. When Voldemort casted the killing curse on Harry, instead of destroying Harry's soul, it instead destroyed Voldemort's soul fragment and that's why he survived.

When Wormtail was resurrecting Voldemort, he used Harry's blood, which is basically Lily's blood, and Lily's protection lives on through any of her blood-shared connections, which is the main reason Dumbledore dropped Harry at the Dursley's because since Petunia is Lily's sister they share the same blood allowing Lily's protection to live on, so when ever Voldemort or Harry are near each other, Lily's protection lives through Voldemort allowing Harry to not be harmed in any way

Also, if you read the books you would know that there is another plot hole. Lily’s protection went away on Harry’s 17th birthday, which had already happened

Well no, Hermione says that putting your soul inside someone is extremely risky, as when that person dies the soul also gets destroyed. The reason Harry survived is because Voldemort put some of Lilly's protection (Harry's blood) inside himself. Not because of the elder wand, and Dumbledore even said that these were just guesses and speculation, but (as Dumbledore also said) were most likely correct.

I remember two excuses that together made sense, but there is a third too, the first is the wand would never kill its owner, the second is that what took out the horcrux was the regret Voldemort felt in creating it, even if accidentally. Now If you are not convinced, the last excuse is the Plot Armour.

Heres my theory
I believe there are 3 factors in play to harrys survival
1 harry did become the master of death just before voldemort cast the killing curse but since voldemort isnt one his soul in harry was deatroyed
2 voldemort took harrys blood so his mothers protection is also in voldemort too hence if voldemort is still alive harry couldnt die (i believe it is mentioned somewhere in the books)
3 that i cant believe you didnt mention HARRY IS THE TRUE OWNER OF THE ELDER WAND AT THE TIME so no way in hell would it try to kill him

My thought: once the elderwand switched its owner, because the first one was killed while sleeping. So he also didnt defend himself. Also Grindelwald obtained the wand by attacking the previous one in the back: no defense, no real fight. So why wasnt Voldemord able the become the owner after maybe not killing but definetly defeating Harry in the forbidden forest?

Ahem, another way to destroy a horecrux is that the creator shows genuine remorse. It’s very painful. By having it be Voldemort who tried to kill Harry he is technically showing remorse and regret for making him a horecrux, although he didn’t know it. Harry returned from death because Voldemort was still alive containing Lilys protection which only helps Harry live. Voldemort never died he merely passed out in excruciating pain. After that Harry could safely battle Voldemort because Harry could always come back Voldemort couldn’t. As for the scar a part of Voldemorts soul attached itself to Harry therefore the scar would not be visible when separated. Tis all. Sincerely Someone who has read Harry Potter over 55 times.

lily protection on harry was after she was killed, the mark on his head happened she voldemort tried to kill harry the got disintegrated. voldemort killed harry thus the container was broken, harry used the resurrection stone to return, yes the wand belonged to harry after disarming draco thats why the wand destroyed vodemort end the end all these things where explained. thank you for the recap

When Voldemort used Harry's blood in Goblet of Fire, and Harry told this to Dumbledore, it says there was a triumph in Dumbledore's eyes for a bit. Because he knew then that now Harry couldn't be killed. Because Voldemort unknowingly took in blood that had Lily's protection. So as long as the Voldemort stayed alive, harry couldn't die. Or something like that, because now he had the blood with Lily's protection. Pls read the books.

Read the books. Even in the movies it says being Master of Death doesn't mean you can't die. It means you accept death as inevitable and face it when your time comes. Harry survived because the blood that Voldemort took from him had his mother's protection in it and that allowed Harry to remain alive.

The thing that makes this argument incredible is saying “remember Malloy manor? Draco Disarmed Dumbledore in the Astronomy Tower” bringing up completely different locations that pretty much couldn’t be farther than each other, as if they are connected. I do agree though, Harry was master of death, also his own blood was now in Voldemort, meaning he was in the same vicinity as the blood touched by his mom’s love. There’s many reasons he survived, this is definitely one.

As many others mentioned, when he used the killing curse, voldamort had destroyed his own soul that was within Harry. Not only that, Voldamort was technically a horacrux himself. You ask how? Well, to come back to life Voldamort had decided to use Harrys own blood because that would give him the protection spell that lilly casted on Harry. Allowing him to bypass that protection. But why couldnt he actually kill Harry, but instead destroy his own soul that was in harry that made Harry one of his Horacruxs? Because, you cant destroy a Horacrux with avada cadavera, harry was his horacrux. But Voldamort is also Harry's horacrux, so it countered out killing voldamorts soul instead of Harry. And since Voldamort was Harry's he came back to life :)
