Correct me if I'm wrong - but wasn't he rejected from the academy before the accident? How then did the accident 'derail' his plans to attend the academy? And from reports, the accident left him with 3 million dollars of debt - yet he believes that if he were in a country with socialized healthcare he would be dead? As an Australian with free socialised health care, I beg to differ.

I really like this young man. He knows what it’s like to have his whole life suddenly, and drastically, change in just one traumatic moment. He’s fought hard for probably months and months afterward to get his life and mind straight again. I don’t know if any of our men and women serving in Washington DC can say that. I respect that. God bless you. I’m a independent but a veteran that had accident during training and crashed my spinal cord and god saved me, and I thought I would not make it. But I made it and see how he is strong to sustain himself. Again, we may have our differences but I respect you brother.
